Yay, cherries!

I love cherry season. They are, I think, my favorite fruit and unfortunately have all too short of a season, so I try to enjoy them while I can, cost be damned. These were actually very tasty cherries, too, with only two or three less than perfect ones in the bowl I had. Just cherries, nothing more. I’m glad I have the rest of the bag left for tomorrow. I thought briefly about trying to do something with them, but the Husband doesn’t care for cherries and these are almost too good to spoil. Although I could conceivably pitt a bowl of cherries and then add a couple of tablespoons of an almond liquor of some sort. Let that soak together for a little while. Maybe frangelico? I know I have plenty of that. Heh. Maybe split what’s left and do half plain and half with liquor. I think I may need to do a half batch of cherry frozen yogurt too.

Speaking of frozen yogurt, I’ll be trying a peach one tomorrow. I had peaches from Saturday’s farm market that went from hard to almost over-ripe in less than 48 hours. So I decided I needed to do something with them, fast, and peach frozen yogurts is where we’ve started. I peeled and cooked the peaches today and then reduced them a bit. Tomorrow I’ll make the actual frozen yogurt (seems the plain yogurt I have in the house- which is only 6 oz not 8 but that’s another rant- is two days past the Sell By date and the Husband won’t eat it so tomorrow I will go buy fresh yogurt.)
