Saturday

Just another Saturday in this life of domestication. First the farmers market, then some errands on the way to the Amish market for food for the week. I’ve already planned out most of the menu. Some fresh cod which I will probably do exactly like last week with wasabi aioli and panko, some salmon which we’ll do with a sake ginger glaze, I think, and more pork. What can I say? It was so easy. And I will probably do that in a similar way, marinated overnight in a soy teriyaki sauce. I picked up some mac and cheese for sides and will maybe roast some potatoes for another. I have an abundance of snap peas this week, so maybe I’ll find a recipe to do something with them. It should be nice weather this week, so I got some burgers for grilling, beef for him, turkey for me. Though I just realized I forgot to buy buns.

As to dinner tonight? Boring turkey sandwiches on challah rolls. I like mine with apple butter instead of mayo.

We have friends coming for dinner next Saturday and possibly Sunday. The main meal will be burgers and dogs on the grill. Not sure what else. Thinking about some shrimp, possibly. I’m definitely planning on baking and making desserts so we’ll see what will happen with that. I’ll need to restrain myself and not try to do too much or bake too many things. So far a tray of blondies with chocolate and butterscotch chips. Probably creme brulee (I bought two dozen organic eggs today at the Amish market), and I’m think about a lemon syrup cake served with strawberries. I think that should be enough for six people. Oh, and a cherry cake. Definitely want to make the cherry cake. I have some brandy soaked cherries to use.
