life update

Well life has been a little busy lately and it seems that everything has slipped to the side again. I’m still getting used to the new job, both the work and the commute.  It seems that Friday is also the busiest day so there’s no slow down at the end of the week to look forward to.  But I did finally get the long overdue elements Mangalitsa post up. It’s a lazy Sunday morning; the Husband is sleeping in. I’m contemplating what to do, cook, bake, etc, and I’m not coming up with much today. I’m lacking motivation. If I could just do like Tabitha in Bewitched and just snap my fingers, or have replicators like in Star Trek, things would be ever so much easier. Either that or unlimited budget with which to go out and eat. But alas, I’m not that blessed yet. Yet.

Apropos of nothing. I got a really great custom messenger back from a company called Timbuk2. I think I’m going to be getting myself another one as soon as I can in good conscience afford it. It’s a damn fine bag, the only thing wrong with it really is that it’s too small to carry everything I might need in a work day. It doesn’t fit a 5 subject spiral  8 1/2 x 11 notebook, umbrella and cane very well. I may also look into their smaller bags to take the place of a purse when I don’t need to schlep that much stuff.

Health update behind the cut

So health wise things have been reasonably ok. I’m due to see the Dr the first F in Sept so I went and had blood drawn when I got my magnesium infusion last week. Bandaids on both arms but no bruising. We did the usual testing, cholesterol, CBC, metabolic panel and then I asked for B-12, ana, esr, sed rate, as well as the two for celiac. That needed another vial. But it’s done and we’ll see what the results are. I figured if they’re going to stick me, let’s do as much as we can at once.

I’ve been trying to adjust the Lyrica dosage. It was helping and I thought it could do more and I was still below therapeutic dosage levels so I added 25 mg to my midday to bring it to 75 and added 50 to my nighttime to bring it to 150. That was also I could get one Rx for 75 mg pills instead of 3. Well bring on the munchies! I’ve always heard about the people who had the weight gain on Lyrica and couldn’t stop eating but I’d been lucky, and had only put on 5 lbs in the last 2 years. Once I upped the dose, though, the nerve pain got better but I was at the vending machine constantly. It was terrible. I had to bring the dosing back down. It’s the extra 25 during the day, since I took a pill yesterday to try and stop the nerve pain in my face. Right after that it was find something to eat. Suck. Seriously. I’m going to try the extra at night tonight and see how I feel tomorrow, maybe that will work. If not, we’ll have to try something else.

I’m edging into another headache cycle but I’m hoping it will break when the weather does. If not, at least I have remote access set up for work.
