Final FL day

  • Posted on March 31, 2010 at 12:30 pm

As is typical of our visits to Florida, it’s never complete without at least one doctors visit. Today, we take Peep to the dentist. At least it should be a short appt.

Have tentative plans with one cousin for dinner today; need to figure out how to see the other. Argh. No time for friends down here, hopefully we’ll get to see Tara on the way back north. Passover is a rough time for visiting.

I slept really late today, remarkable considering the bed is like a slab of concrete. I hurt all over, the deep aching to the bone hurt in some spots. Current meds are not touching the nerve pain, either. Tomorrow we start the drive back. We’re taking three days this time instead of two, breaking up the second day with a stop in Raleigh to visit some dear friends who moved down there.

Today lunch was at IHOP of all places, ’cause that’s just where we ended up. Tonight should be dinner with my cousin which we’re both looking forward to.

Tomorrow, off to Savannah. Worst case scenario is we get room service delivery from the Pink House. That certainly doesn’t suck. Ice cream at Leopold’s. Drinks at Jazz’d. Tomorrow night shouldn’t suck.

Still in Florida

It’s Tuesday now, midway through our trip to Florida. Last night was first Seder at the Husband’s cousin’s house, which was lovely. Tonight will be second Seder at his aunt and uncle’s house, which we are looking forward to.

I had to do some work today, which isn’t too bad on our laptops. It’s just the hassle factor that gets to me, too much to do even when on vacation.

Florida fun

We’re down in Florida to spend the holidays with family, particularly the Husband’s grandfather. We drove 800 miles on Saturday, from home to Savannah in about 12 hours. Sunday was another 6 hours to Florida. Not too bad, especially in our comfy car, but still no picnic.

Dinner in Savannah was at 700 Drayton, where we’ve eaten many times before. This time we had reserved the turret table, which was lovely. They had changed the entire menu since we’d been last. We started with crab cakes to share and an order of chicken livers which stole the show The Husband had a bleu cheese filet and I had a seafood stew. Both were very good. For dessert they brought out a few scoops of Leopold’s ice cream, yum! Definitely better than our last trip had been.

From Savannah we headed to Florida. We went for Italian food not far from Peep’s place. I had shrimp scampi which was a little lemony for my taste but very good. The Husband had a Stromboli which he enjoyed very much and Peep had a pizza.

We headed to Josephs on the Water for a late supper, just the two of us. I had baked stuffed shrimp, the Husband had blackened snapper. The stuffing on the shrimp was very good but the shrimp themselves were kind of eh. The snapper was tasty. We got desserts to go, key lime pie and tiramisu. Very tasty and worth the trip. Not to mention our waiter was a hoot!!

Today, early lunch at Bagel Snack. I know, I know, it’s erev Passover but it’s what he wanted and who are we to argue?

Quick Starbucks run this afternoon. Got us out of the house and caffiene’d up.

Tonight is first Seder at the Husband’s cousin’s.
